A day at the Utah State Fair

We spent the day at the Utah State Fair today and here are a few of our activities.
Andrew up close with the goat.
A goat wanted some attention and Emily was more than willing to give it. She loves animals.

A bunch of carrots!!

Emily and Andrew on another dragon ride.
The SLIDE!! They had a ball on this one. They loves racing each other to the bottom. Rick usually won...he cheated by being taller than the kids.
Andrew made it to the bottom.
Emily and Kelsey beat dad this time.
Emily, Rick and Kelsey on the Tilt-a-whirl.
Kelsey, Rick and Emily on the Tital Wave!!
Everyone had a blast!!!!!!!!

Reptiles!

We went to the Utah State Fair today and did some walking around before the rides opened. One of the exhibits was a reptile show, and we decided to check out the reptiles before the show started.
We happened to be the only people walking around the exhibit and the owner came out and asked if we could help him out with a couple of things that he couldn't do by himself. He showed Emily how to hold the alligator, so he could fill the tank. I was totally surprised when he walked away (out of our sight) while Emily was holding it.

She did great and LOVED it!!!

I was really surprised at how soft it was.
Emily holding the alligator while the guy put water in the tank.

After the alligator was put back in the tank the owner asked if Rick would help him with one more thing before we left.
I really don't think Rick was expecting THIS!

The snake was not very cooperative about going into the barrel, but they finally got it in.
They finally got it in and the lid put on!! What a fun experience for Emily and Rick.

Polar, the Coca-Cola dog

So, we're sitting in the front yard and I put my Coke bottle on the gound, Polar comes up, knocks it over and gets a taste of the cola...now, she can't seem to get enough.

She's not, however, a Diet Coke dog...she sniffed at the bottle, but didn't seem interested in it.
What a crazy Chihuahua!!!

Selling Water

The kids sell water every September to earn money for the rides and the Utah State Fair. They can usually earn most of their money, we make up whatever they don't make. This year we only had to chip in $5.
They have a lot of fun and get to talk to and meet a lot of new people every year.

End of Summer Fun!

My brother and 2 nephews drove down on Friday from WA for a litte weekend visit (they came to see grandpa and got there the day he got out of the hospital and to bring us our Chihuahu). The cousins all love playing with each other.
The end of summer BBQ. We had hot dogs and S'mores over the fire. The kids had a blast and the food was Yummy!

The kids had fun cooking their own food and the adults had fun letting them.

Andrew and Robert: the twins. Robert forgot to pack PJ's, so Andrew found some for him...they wanted to match. So cute!!!!

Meet Polar

Meet Polar (her real name is Polar Bear, because she's white)

She is our little Chihuahua that we got on Friday.

We didn't name her, she got the name from the nice lady we got her from.

I call her bi-Polar (don't ask. LOL)

The kids are in love with her and love taking her out for walks down the block.
She is such a cuddler.
She gets a lot of love!!

First Day of School!

Kelsey, Emily, and Andrew on their first day of school.

They are so excited to be going to Spectrum Academy in North Salt Lake. I'm happy to have some peace and quiet for a fe hours a day!!
Kelsey is in 3rd grade. Emily is in 5th grade. Andrew is in 1st grade. They're growing up so quick.

Kelsey's Baptism

On Saturday, August 2nd, Kelsey Mae Garrison was baptized. She was so excited. She turned 8 on December 21st, but because of my mom's health problems, this was the first month we were able to have the family together. She wanted Grandma to be there, so she waited patiently until the timing was right.
She was baptized and confirmed by her dad:

We celebrated by going out to lunch at Famous Dave's for BBQ (no, I didn't let her wear her white dress to eat BBQ). LOL
After the baptism we came home to have cake and let her open a couple of gifts.

She loves her new scriptures and scripture case

We are very proud of her!!

This Is The Place

Today was free day at This Is The Place State Park; Rick took the kids. I wasn't able to go (my dad is in the hospital and mom and I went to visit him), but they all had fun without me (or maybe they had fun because I couldn't go). :)

Here are some pictures from their adventure:

This Is The Place Monument
Watching the fountain

Playing with the animals

Getting ready to ride on the covered wagon

Pulling the hand cart

First time I've ever seen my kids in a clean room (even if it isn't their own, I'll take it)

All ready for a tea party

Waiting for the train

Not sure if she can really pull it off

Love the hat!

He think he looks like a detective, I think he's right

So prim and proper (it won't last)

I love this picture of Kelsey in the old fashioned costume
